Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75143

This specimen was lot 75143 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1914-(C). Calcutta Mint. George V. PCGS MS-64. A frosty near-Gem minor that offers rich saturated tone throughout." This two annas was struck at the Calcutta mint during World War One. The type was struck 1912-17 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. It was converted to copper-nickel in 1918 and struck in that alloy until 1941.

Recorded mintage: 13,622,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 1.46 g, 0.917 fine silver, 15.7 mm diameter.
