Steve Album Auction 55, lot 2673

This specimen was lot 2673 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AE 1/4 anna, 1914(c), Calcutta Mint later proof restrike, NGC graded MS63 PL RD, ex SARC Auction 15 Lot 1496, ex John Page Collection, ex The 1914 Collection. Tied for finest graded at both NGC and PCGS." This quarter anna was struck at the Calcutta mint before World War One. The type was struck 1912-36 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. The Bombay mint also struck this type but only in 1924-28, 1930 and 1936. A quarter anna was one sixty fourth of a rupee.

Recorded mintage: 40,576,000 plus proofs plus prooflike restrikes.

Specification: 4.72 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
