India 1914(b) 2 annas
This specimen was lot 71685 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1914-(B). Bombay Mint. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Highly enticing and dazzling, this robust Gem offers some delightful pastel hues in its palette, all while an elegant luster shimmers throughout." This two annas was struck at the Bombay mint during World War One. The type was struck 1912-17 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. It was converted to copper-nickel in 1918 and struck in that alloy until 1941.
