India 1914(b) 1/2 rupee

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This half rupee was struck at the Bombay mint at the beginning of World War One. It was never minted in the immense numbers of the George V rupees but it is not rare, being struck steadily 1912-30, 1933-36. This date has a low mintage but is awarded little premium. The minting of rupees effectively ceased after 1922.

Recorded mintage: 903,000.

Specification: 5.83 g, 0.917 fine silver, .172 troy oz ASW.
