Steve Album sale 51, lot 1020

This specimen was lot 1020 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Weimar Republic, 5 reichspfennig, 1925-A, a superb proof quality example! PCGS graded Proof 65 DCAM." This type was type struck 1924-36 in the aftermath of defeat and hyperinflation in World War One. This denomination superseded the five rentenpfennig (KM 11) struck 1923-24. The weight, composition and diameter was the same for both types.

Recorded mintage: 29,032,000, a common date.

Specification: 2.5 g, aluminum bronze, 18 mm diameter.
