This specimen was part of lot 23863 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Karl I gold 5 Taler 1763E-IDB, AU55 NGC, fully struck design features with luster in the legends. An attractive example with no flaws." This type is listed for 1742-75 but is rare despite the long run of production.
