Sincona sale 9, lot 3733

This specimen was lot 3733 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$949 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Braunschweig-Lüneburg, Herzogtum Wolfenbüttel. Karl, 1735-1780. 5 Taler 1764, Braunschweig. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles, 1735-80, five thalers of 1764, very fine.)"

This type is listed for 1742-75 but is rare despite the long run of production.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
