This specimen was lot 73267 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 6 Mariengroschen, 1764/3-IAP. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl I. PCGS AU-58. Overdate variety. Featuring a fairly clear overdate, this alluring example also sports some rather elegant toning that is mostly composed of burnt sienna and tinges of crimson at the peripheries. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This denomination was one-sixth of a thaler or one quarter gulden. This type was struck 1735-80 and is common. Mintmaster IAP appears 1763-72.
