Künker sale 386, lot 5077

This specimen was lot 5077 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,938 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1752, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Herzog Friedrich August Bleyfeld. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich +. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1752, Zellerfeld mint, for the Bleifeld mine. Handsome patina, choice extremely fine.)"

This thaler honoring the Bleifeld mine was one of seven issued by the duke in 1752. This design was also used in 1750.
