Künker sale 263, lot 777

This specimen was lot 777 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,325 (about US$1,712 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1752, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Weißer Schwan. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1752, Zellerfeld mint, for the "White Swan" mine. Fine patina, extremely fine.)"

The duke must have been extra grateful for his silver mines in 1752, as he issued this one for the "White Swan," Dav-2162 for the "Lauthenthal's Luck" mine, Dav-2164 for "Goodness of the Lord" mine, Dav-2166 for the "Rainbow" mine and Dav-2168 for the "king Carl" mine. All are scarce.
