Hannover 1752-IBH thaler Dav-2102
This specimen was lot 4157 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$2,064 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl I., 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1752, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Herzog Friedrich August Bleyfeld. Feine Patina, fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Dr. Friedrich-Karl Günther. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1752, Zellerfeld mint, for the Bleifeld mine. Fine patina, about extremely fine.)"
This is not an issue of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel but of Hannover. This mining thaler was issued 1750 and 1752; a similar thaler honoring the same mine is known from Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (Dav-2167), so the auctioneers can be forgiven for their error.
