This specimen was lot 4797 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description [2] noted, "German States - Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Second Bell Taler, 1643. August The Younger, 1604-1666. Half bust left. Reverse: Bell. Bold strike. NGC graded About Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)." The year 1643 saw the issue of nine different "bell" thalers (Dav-6363, -6364, -6366, -6366A, -6366B, -6371, -6373, -6374, -6375, -6369) in Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, as well as more conventional thalers (Dav-6338, -6347, -6370, -6372).
