Kunker sale 293, lot 500

This specimen was lot 500 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €170 (about US$229 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. 1/4 Reichstaler 1643, Zellerfeld. 2. Glockenort. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Augustus the Younger, 1635-66, second bell quarter thaler of 1643, Zellerfeld mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

The year 1643 saw the issue of nine different "bell" thalers (Dav-6363, -6364, -6366, -6366A, -6366B, -6371, -6373,-6374, -6375, -6369) in Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, as well as more conventional thalers (Dav-6338, -6347, -6370, -6372).
