Shown is an 1878/7-ZsS 5 pesos gold piece, of a type struck at Zacatecas 1874-1892. The type is also recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Chihuahua, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. The variety shown here, with the overdate (1878/7) and overassayer (S/A), is the only one listed for the date, considered only a slightly scarce date.

Specification: 8.46 g, 0.875 fine gold, .238 troy oz AGW.
