Sincona sale 83, lot 2497

This specimen was lot 2497 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$335 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA Volksrepublik, 10 Yuan 1991, Shanghai Mint. Proof. Panda. Piéfort (2 oz). Im doppelten Gewicht geprägt auf das 10-jährige Jubiläum der Panda Serie. Polierte Platte (Choice Proof)." Numerous silver and gold ten yuan NCLT's were issued in 1991 (KM 296, 299, KM 347, 356, KM 360, 361, 369, 370, 372, 373, 374, 375, 386.1, KM 386.2, 386.3). This one is a two ounce silver panda and it marked the tenth anniversary of the series. It used a different design than the regular one ounce silver panda (KM 386.2).

Specification: 62.2 g, 0.999 fine silver, this specimen 62.55 g.
