Sincona sale 51, lot 2275

This specimen was lot 2275 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"25 Yuan 1991. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. In Originalverschweissung. (China, twenty-five yuan of 1991, panda. Choice Proof, In original plastic holder.)"

This NCLT was the ninth quarter ounce panda, the series having begun in 1983. Subsequent programs added silver and platinum pandas in varying sizes from one gram up to 4.85 kilo.

Recorded mintage: 54,548 + proofs.

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, 22 mm diameter.
