This specimen was lot 72556 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1851-GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo Mint. PCGS EF-40 Gold Shield. A nice evenly worn survivor from this popular mint with deep old envelope tone." This mint is one of the scarcer for the type, tho the issues of Estado de Mexico, Chihuahua and Hermosillo are priced higher in the catalog. The type was struck at Guadalupe y Calvo 1844-51, all with assayer MP.
