Sincona sale 43, lot 3171

This specimen was lot 3171 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA, Volksrepublik, 25 Yuan 1993. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. (People's Republic of China, twenty-five yuan of 1993, panda series, Choice Proof.)"

The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The SCWC indicates that the "P" mintmark (not shown here) marks the proofs.

Recorded mintage: 80,006 + 2,500 proofs (P).

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, .250 troy oz AGW.
