Mexico 1844Ga 2 reales rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is an 1844GaMC 2 reales, one of a type struck at the Guadalajara mint 1825-62. Assayer MC (Manuel Cueras) is recorded this mint for the years 1840-45. Other mints include Guanajuato, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Zacatecas, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. This mintmark is slightly better for two reales but no special premium is attached to this date.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.76 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 374.6.
