This specimen was lot 11257 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,998. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1844-GCMP. Very RARE. Old cleaning scratch across cap. Nearly VERY FINE." The Guadalupe y Calvo mint struck four reales 1844-50 but all dates are rare to very rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.
