from Stephen Album sale 32, lot 1583
Cuba SA32-1583r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1583 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "CUBA: AR 5 pesos, 1989, Zeppelin, Medios de Transporte series, Proof." Desperate for foreign exchange, Cuba has issued large numbers of NCLT's, many only vaguely related to Cuba. The SCWC states that this NCLT comes in two varieties, thin or thick wreaths on the reverse, but does not bother to include photos of the reverses so we won't try to attribute the variety.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 proofs.

Specification: 16 g, .999 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-220.
