Heritage sale 3081, lot 30380
Cuba H3081-30380r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30380 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold "French Revolution" 100 Pesos 1989 MS69 NGC. Struck in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille." The year 1989 saw the release of many self-congratulatory NCLT's by the regime along with such essentially Cuban topics as the fall of the Bastille and the first Spanish railway. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare.

Recorded mintage: 150 proofs.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 320, Fr-26.
