This specimen was lot 33603 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,110. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba: Republic Proof gold Proof "First Train in Cuba" 50 Pesos 1989 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Struck for the 150th anniversary of the first train in Cuba. AGW 0.4994 oz. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." After a hiatus from 1981 to 1988, the regime resumed the issue of gold and silver NCLT's in large quantities. This design was also issued in 1 oz silver (KM 205) and 1 oz gold (KM 317).
