This specimen was lot 1356 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $431.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. ½ Escudo, 1846 GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo. Hand inscribing law book with quill and Liberty Cap. Rv. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Pleasing orange-gold color throughout with a good strike save for the very center of the eagle's breast which only shows partial definition. Attractive and a rare coin in any grade, especially so this nice. Identifiable by a very perfectly placed and hidden scratch up the L of REPUBLICA to the dentil above. Choice Extremely Fine."

Recorded mintage: unknown.
