Ponterio sale 159, lot 8136

This specimen was lot 8136 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $138. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 1/2 Real, 1834/3-GaFS. VERY FINE." This specimen was struck at the Guadalajara mint in 1834, one of a type struck there 1825-62. Assayer FS is listed for 1825-36. Many early Guadalajara issues such as this one are listed as common but are not.
