Shown is an 1844GaMC 2 reales, one of a type struck struck at the Guadalajara mint 1825-62. Assayer MC (Manuel Cueras) is recorded this mint for the years 1840-45. Other mints include [[Mexico 1838-Go PJ 2 reales|Guanajuato]], Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, [[Mexico 1830-Zs OV 2 reales|Zacatecas]], Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and [[Mexico 1848-GC MP 2 reales|Guadalupe y Calvo]]. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. This mintmark is slightly better for two reales but no special premium is attached to this date.
