This specimen was struck at Mexico City, a common date of a type struck there 1869-90. Assayer “B” is also recorded for 1874, as well as overdates 1874/3 and 1874/69 and overassayer B/M. Many dates of the balance scale twenty-five centavos are unknown in high grade. The first specimen was lot 9106 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 25 Centavos, 1874/3-MoB/M. NGC MS-65."

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
