This specimen was lot 2571 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE | Königreich. Louis XIV. 1643-1715 Louis d'or de Béarn à l'écu 1690. Pau Réformation. Äusserst selten. Gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of France, Louis XIV, 1643-1715, louis d'or of the shield, Pau mint, reformed blank. Extremely rare, Good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1690-93 and is the first reasonably common type after the scarce dates of the 1670's and 1680's. Gadoury notes this mint as rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown, known struck on flans neufs and flans reformées.

Specification: 6.75 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, designed by J. Röettiers; this specimen is 6.68 g.
