The first specimen was lot 23385 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1858-CCE. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. An attractive example, displaying satin-smooth luster in the fields, lovely russet and lavender toning that concentrates at the edges and a decent strike for the date. The finest certified example at PCGS with a single higher MS-63+ graded by NGC. Ex: Coin Galleries auction, November 7, 1990, Lot #1193." The Culiacan mint struck eight reales 1846-97 and this date is available tho not common.
