This specimen was lot 71261 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Mexico|MEXICO]]. 8 Reales, 1834-PI JS. Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62. A very elusive mint state grade for such an early piece from the San Luis Potosi mint. Light gray toning with impressive champagne highlights throughout." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1827-93 at the San Luis Potosi mint. This date is rather common. The SCWC notes a somewhat scarce 1834/3 overdate. Assayer JS is recorded for 1827-42.

This specimen was lot 71261 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1834-PI JS. Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62. A very elusive mint state grade for such an early piece from the San Luis Potosí mint. Light gray toning with impressive champagne highlights throughout." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1827-93 at the San Luis Potosí mint. This date is rather common. The SCWC notes a somewhat scarce 1834/3 overdate. Assayer JS is recorded for 1827-42.
