This specimen was lot 1135 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €650 (about US$876 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''REGENSBURG, STADT, 15 Kreuzer (1/8 Reichstaler) o. J. mit Titel von Franz I. Slg. Bach (Auktion Künker 238) 4829. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit herrlicher Patina, vorzüglich.'' ([[Germany]], city of Regensburg, undated fifteen kreuzer (1/8 thaler), struck in the name of Francis I. Very rare, very attractive example with beautiful patina, extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This silver eighth thaler or quarter gulden was minted in the free city of Regensburg sometime before 1750. It was probably minted to apologize to Francis I for supporting his rival Karl VII in the War of the Austrian Succession.
