PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Scarce date in mint state. Slightly weak strike, lustrous." This specimen was struck at the San Luis Potosi mint in 1849. This mint struck silver coins 1825-93, with one reals recorded for 1831, 1837-62. The one reals from this mint are not rare but are priced, on average, double the contemporary products from Zacatecas or Guanajuato.

This specimen was lot 24383 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1849-PiPS. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder.
