Ponterio sale 168, lot 40275

The Guanajuato mint struck eight escudos 1825-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 40275 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $4,112. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1862-GoYE. NGC MS-64."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, .875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
