This specimen was lot 8149 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $138. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 1/2 Real, 1828-GMR. No "o" in mintmark. RARE variety. VERY FINE." It was struck at the Guanajuato mint in 1828, one of a type struck there 1826-68. Assayer MR is listed for 1828 only. This variety, with an incomplete mintmark, is not listed in the SCWC.
