This specimen was lot 7773 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1885-Do JB. Durango Mint. NGC MS-63. This example exhibits sharp strike detail throughout, pleasing full luster, and various toning colors." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95. Assayer JB, shown here, is awarded a premium over assayer MC for 1885.

Recorded mintage: 547,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
