from the Stack's Bowers 2022 NYINC sale, lot 7772

This specimen was lot 7772 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $408. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1884-Do MC. Durango Mint. NGC MS-62. A boldly struck crown with pervasive burnt orange to electric blue toning, and underlain by strongly lustrous surfaces. Overall quite an eye-appealing example." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95. An 1884/3 overdate is granted a slight premium.
