from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 47102

This specimen was lot 47102 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1884-Ho FM. Hermosillo Mint. PCGS MS-61." The Hermosillo mint struck eight reales 1861-95 and most of the dates from 1874 on are fairly common. An 1884/3 overdate exists and is awarded a slight premium. Assayer FM is listed for 1883-86.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
