This specimen was lot 1985 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2018), where it sold for $202.30. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zacatecas, Mexico, 1 real, Ferdinand VII, 1811-LVO, NGC VF 25. Difficult to find this choice with only two in the VF range listed in the NGC census (this example may not yet be included), typically crude manufacture but almost full legends and bold central design, darkly toned around edges. NGC #4725131-010." This type was struck 1810-11 along with KM-184 and KM-185. The mounting anarchy unleashed during the Mexican War of Independence forced the royal authorities to open branch mints, such as Zacatecas, Guanajuato and Durango. The Zacatecas mint, opened in 1811, closed in 1905.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.38 g, .896 fine silver, .098 troy oz ASW.
