Mexico 1882 II centavos rev DC.jpg

This specimen is one of a type struck in Mexico 1882-83 along with similar one and five centavos pieces. It was an attempt to emulate the American introduction of small copper cents and copper-nickel five cent pieces and it was a flop. In 1886, the Mexico City mint resumed striking the old style large copper centavos.

Recorded mintage: 50,023,000 for 1882-83.

Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 18 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM 395.
