Áureo y Calicó sale 391, lot 1528

This specimen was lot 1528 in Aureo y Calicó sale 391 (Barcelona, June 2022), where it sold for €370 (about US$465 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1842. Isabel II. Sevilla. RD. 10 reales. Rara. MBC-. (kingdom of Spain, Isabella II, ten reales of 1842, Seville mint. Rare, about very fine.)"

This type was struck in Seville 1841-43 and Madrid 1840-45. This specimen is a common date tho the type is scarce. It is the first ten reales struck since 1821 (KM 560).

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW (same size as the old four reales), this specimen 13,65 g.
