Jean Elsen sale 164, lot 1715

This specimen was lot 1715 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €180 (about US$251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ESPAGNE, Isabelle II (1833-1868), AR 10 reales, 1843 RD, Séville. Beau à Très Beau. (kingdom of Spain, Isabella II, 1833-68, silver ten reales of 1843, Seville mint. Fine - Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1840-44 at Madrid and Seville to the vellon system, wherein twenty reales = one peso. Cayón reports a scarce 1843/2 overdate.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver.
