Spain 1841-S RD 10 reales
This specimen was lot 444 in Aureo y Calicó sale 233 (Barcelona, April 2011), where it sold for 2,100 euros (about US$3,497 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1841. Sevilla. RD. 10 reales. Brillo original. Bellísima. Rara y más en esta conservación excepcional. S/C-. (Ten reales of 1841, Segovia mint, beautiful patina, extremely rare in this exceptional condition, about Uncirculated.)"
This type was struck for Spain in Seville 1841-43 and Madrid 1840-45. This specimen is a better date tho none are common. It is the first ten reales struck since 1821 (KM 560).

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW (same size as the old four reales).
