This specimen was lot 72465 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. Sharjah. 100 Riyals, AH 1389/1970. Karlsruhe Mint. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte's birth, this superb Gem features a flawless cameo contrast and no sign of toning or spots." The total coinage of this state, now part of the United Arab Emirates, comprises one set of NCLT's issued in 1970, including this one honoring Napoleon Bonaparte. This design also appeared on a silver five riyals (KM 4).
