This specimen was lot 23584 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. Ras Al Khaimah. 100 Riyals, 1970. Saqr bin Mohammad al-Qassimi. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. 1970 FIFA World Cup held in Mexico. Displaying the Jules Rimet cup, this football-related issue offers intense frosting upon the devices and a rather alluring mirroring to the fields, ultimately creating the ultra cameo look for which it has appropriately garnered the distinction." The total coinage of this state, now part of the United Arab Emirates, comprises several sets of NCLT's issued in 1970, including this one honoring the World Cup.
