Sincona sale 94, lot 2365

This specimen was lot 2365 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 18,000 CHF (about US$24,948 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SHARJAH Khalid Bin Muhammad al-Quasimi, 1965-1972. 200 Riyals 1970, Das durch NGC höchstbewertete Exemplar. (emirate of Sharjah, Khalid Bin Muhammad al-Quasimi, 1965-1972, 200 riyals of 1970, NGC PF69 ULTRA CAMEO, Finest certified by NGC.)"

The total coinage of this state, now part of the United Arab Emirates, comprises one set of NCLT's issued in 1970, including this one honoring the sheikh himself. The sheikh was assassinated in 1972, aged 40 years.
