Prussia 1851-A groschen
This specimen was lot 4127 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €75 (about US$104 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. Silbergroschen 1851, A. Fast Stempelglanz. Erworben 1970. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, silver groschen of 1851, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1841-52. The half silbergroschen and one silbergroschen replaced all the miscellaneous billon denominations struck before the reform of 1821.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
