Künker sale 353, lot 4129

This specimen was lot 4129 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €85 (about US$118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. 1/2 Silbergroschen 1851, A. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben am 24.9.1968. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, silver groschen of 1851, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1841-52. The half silbergroschen and one silbergroschen replaced all the miscellaneous billon denominations struck before the reform of 1821.
