Stack's Bowers 2020 ANA sale, lot 21240

This specimen was lot 21240 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. Frederick d'Or, 1850-A. Berlin Mint. Friedrich Wilhelm IV. NGC MS-64. A sharply struck example with smooth satiny surfaces and nice cartwheel luster. An attractive and original looking survivor with good eye appeal certain to grab the attention of discerning collectors." This type was struck 1841-52 and was the next to last of this denomination. All were made at Berlin.
