This specimen was lot 73773 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. Silber Groschen, 1842-A. Berlin Mint. Frederick William IV. NGC MS-66. Gemmy in nature, this attractive example displays an icy and brilliant luster with rich details. Only the most marginal of imperfections withhold this handsome piece from being Superbly Gem." This type was struck 1841-52 at Berlin and Dusseldorf and most dates are common.
