This specimen was lot 72223 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. Groschen, 1841-D. Aurich Mint. Friedrich Wilhelm IV. PCGS MS-65. An extremely attractive example with satin like luster and a mother of pearl like tone throughout." This type was struck 1841-52 at Berlin and Dusseldorf (not Aurich). Most dates, including this one, are common.
